RE: <<Worship &
Church Attendance>>
We are instructed by God
to set aside a day to worship Him in His house with our spiritual brethren.
Jesus says that man wasnÕt made
for the Sabbath but the Sabbath was made for man. Mark 2:27,28 He means that God created the Sabbath
for OUR benefit. The Holy Spirit and the bride both say, ÔComeÕ.
Throughout the entire bible
we see how life centered around gathering to worship the Lord, reading from the
Book, teaching the scriptures, sharing communion and fellowship.
If you arenÕt attending
church on a regular basis (at least
two times a week)
Your actions may be
demonstrating a lack of reverance for your God, a lack of love for your
spiritual brethren, and you are putting a cap on how far you want your faith
and relationship with the Lord to grow. { Please read on as I demonstrate
the truthfulness of these strong statements. They are meanÕt to direct you to
the scriptures and not a condemnation of you. }
You may have decided to
quit worshipping because the church(es) doesnÕt meet your expectations.
The church is made up of
people put there by God and is an institution ordained by God that is called
the bride of His Son, Jesus Christ. ItÕs purpose is to serve man through the
reading of the scriptures, to facilitate fellowship between people and the Holy
Spirit, and to focus worship towards God in heaven. When Jesus returns, I
certainly want to be part of that bride that becomes married to the Groom and
resides in the eternal house! ( see Revelations 19:7, 21:2,9 and 22:17 ) I
donÕt want to be like the five virgins who were not prepared for the wedding
and missed it! ( see JesusÕ lesson in Matthew 25 )
The church is not a club with
majority rules and is not designed to have itÕs operation changed based on just
one personÕs opinion or ideas. God has created many churches so that everyone
can find one that fits their felt needs for fellowship and worship. If you
canÕt find a church family, ask God to place you in one. If you still cannot
find one, then maybe God is calling you to plant a new church fellowship. If
this is the case, Cornerstone Community Church would like to see if we can be
of help. Before you plant make sure you have the call of God and not a
disgruntled grudge motivating you.
Worship of God
prescribed:
ÒCome, let us worship and
bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God and we are
the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand.Ó Ps 95:6
Then Jesus said to him,
ÒBegone, Satan! For it is written, You shall worship the Lord your God and
serve Him only.Ó Mt 4:10
Worship of Jesus
Christ, the Son of God:
ÒAnd they came into the
house and saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell down and worshiped
Him;..Ó (not Mary or other saints) Mt 2:11
ÒAnd those who were in the
boat worshiped Him, saying, ÒYou are certainly GodÕs Son!Ó Mt 14:33
A Call to Worship:
Ò..Come, let us go up to the
mountain of the Lord .. That He may teach us concerning His ways and that we
mnay walk in His pathsÉÓ Is 2:3
Love for GodÕs House:
ÒFor a day in Thy courts is
better than a thousand outside. I would rather stand at the threshold of the house
of my God, than dwell in the tents of wickedness. For the Lord God is a sun and
shield; the Lord gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withold from
those who walk uprightly.Ó Ps 84:10
Reasons to Attend:
As Promised -- Biblical Proofs of Opening Points made
above: ÒIf you arenÕt attending
church on a regular basis (at least two times a week) your actions are
demonstrating a lack of reverance for your God, a lack of love for your
spiritual brethren, and you are putting a cap on how far you want your faith
and relationship with the Lord to grow.Ó
As you have read the
scriptures above you have seen how
God prescribes that we gather together in His house and He has declared that
His presence is there. Anyone that reveres and loves God will most certainly
want to be in His joyful house singing praises to His holy name. Jesus has
commanded us to love the Lord God with all of our heart-soul-mind and to love
our neighbor as ourselves. We cannot truly meet these commands without being in
fellowship at His house.
Hebrews 10:24,25 says, Ò..let
us consider how we may spur each other on toward love and good deeds. Let us
not give up meeting together..Ó
Lastly, the scriptures have demonstrated that the triune God has a special
relationship with the bride (the church). Like an ember that is removed from a
fire and goes out, the faith of those who have stayed out of the church will
see their faith fade and their relationship with God not increase.
**This open letter is not intended to change where
you worship nor is it intended
to condemn you or cause you to
doubt your salvation.**
This letter is intended to lovingly encourage you to attend a
church of your choosing and draw closer to the Lord. There is joy to be had. Praise to God unifies His people, for it turns our
hearts toward Him and not towards others who seek our worship of them. DonÕt
fail Christ. He died for us and we owe Him your life. If we fail Him someone is
likely to follow our example into eternal tragedy.
**Come experience the joy of GodÕs presence. A person
whose sins are forgiven has much joy! The church is GodÕs training ground for
life eternal – we cannot afford to miss one lesson!**
**If your life lacks health and happiness, find it in
a relationship with Jesus.
The joy of the Lord is our strength.**
Please accept our
invitation to attend Cornerstone
Community Church where you will be welcomed, not put on the spot, and we do not
pass an offering plate asking for your money. If you desire to find out more
about us prior to visiting us, we will gladly send you our brochure or you may
call one of the pastors; Mark S Disbrow 657-9129 and Ron McClure 657-3221.
