Please read each scripture to confirm and adopt the meaning of each statement which is taken from the bible.
The tithe
belongs to the Lord (Lev 27:30) and is for the support of the work of
the church (Num 18:20-24). We are to bring it into the church (De 12:6)
and not scattered about (Mal 3:10). We are not to neglect the Levite
(pastors, priests) and we are to bring all the tithe of our produce and
deposit it in your town every 3rd year. (De 14:23,27,28,29)
We are to give
according to our income (De16:17) without ostentation (Mt 6:3) and to
give freely, (Mt 10:8) cheerfully, (2 Co 9:7) with simplicity, (Ro
12:8) regularly. (1 Co 16:2)
Stinginess
results in want (Pr 11:24) and when we cry out to the Lord we will not
be heard (Pr 21:13), we will have many curses. (Pr 28:27) Hoarding
riches results in hurt (Ec 5:13) and worse than this it robs God. Yes,
STEALS FROM GOD (Mal 3:8, Ac 5:1-3) and wearies God (Is 43:24).
Generosity is
encouraged. We will prosper (Pr 11:25) and be blessed (Pr 22:9), our
gloom will lift (Is 58:10) as God pours out (Mal 3:10). Our generous
giving will be returned to us in the same measure (Lu 6:38) and we will
reap bountifully (2 Co 9:6)
We are to give
to the poor. We are to sustain our countrymen (Le 25:35, De 15:7). We
will store up treasures in heaven (Mt 19:21) and God will deliver us
(Ps 41:1). We must know and trust that God will repay us for our giving
to the poor (Pr 19:17) and Jesus will say to us that when we gave to
the poor, we were giving to Him. (Mt 25:35-40)
