GodÕs Provisions

Phil 4:10-23

Part 3

How Will Our Needs Be Met?

Phil 4:10-23

Paul also testifies and declares in verse 19 that his God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Beloved, his God is also your God and my God. We must know and believe that God will supply. We must try to focus not on our wants but rather focus on living for the will of God trusting Him to provide for our needs. God provides in many miraculous ways. God uses other people to supply us and even unusual situations. This is called ÔGodÕs economyÕ. To participate we need to keep our mind fixed on Christ, serve others first even during our time of need, and know that God will supply.

God will supply.

We must ask Him.

We must know that He has the supply.

What are the Ôriches in glory in Christ JesusÕ?

Jesus is rich in grace. He has brought us salvation by His grace and not by anything we have earned. We are now sons of God, heirs of the Kingdom, and we will not be taken away from God. Jesus said that God the Father gives us good gifts and takes care of us. He explained that even we fathers who will only give good gifts to our children (and we are evil – not holy) can expect that our Father in heaven will do likewise, even more so because He is holy.

God has chosen us to be His spiritual heirs. It is not us who chose Him to be our God for He is God no matter what we think. What we think does not change His position as sovereign Lord. Knowing this, how can we not believe He will supply our needs? God has said He would, Jesus Christ said He would, and Paul lived a life experiencing provision in the midst of affliction. We must have the mind and attitude of Paul who had the mind of Christ who has the mind of God and only does what He sees the Father in heaven doing.

The Ôrubber hits the roadÕ

If you find yourself in need at this moment, fix your mind on Christ and think of the things above. Philippians 4:6-8 says, ÒBe anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things.Ó

You can best start this by reading the bible and praying. Read the book of Philippians, Acts, James, and 1 John. Then read 1 & 2 Peter. Immerse yourself in the bible for awhile until the Lord delivers you the strength to go and serve. Trust like the widow who fed the prophet Elijah with her last meal. She left her home and to gather sticks planning on returning home to cook the last meal for her and her son and then prepare to die. 1 Kings 17:10-16

As you walk around town or as you find people to serve, keep you mind fixed on the things above. Keep your mind fixed on Christ. Be excited knowing that God is preparing to show you His power and grace in a miraculous way.
